'Delicatessen' (1991) is a French, black comedy movie, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro. It tells the story of a a landlord, the butcher, who murders his guests and sells their meat to the market.

The opening sequence uses a wide shot with a pan movement to establish the location.
The usage of this specific shot creates a smooth camera movement and allows the audience to analyse the eerie scenery of abandoned buildings. The Director further reinforces a mysterious atmosphere with diegetic sound and low-key lighting. The low-key lighting introduces tones of ochres/yellows to create a dusty, apocalyptic feel.
